Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh said the government has given approval for procurement of electronic contactless inlays for manufacturing of e-passports.

He said Nasik-based India Security Press (ISP) has been authorised to float a global tender for procurement of the contactless inlays along with its operating system.

The personal particulars of the applicants would be digitally signed and stored in the chip. To a separate question, he said the number of Indian fishermen who are in custody of Sri Lanka is 35 while 65 fishermen are in custody of Pakistan.

In the last two years, he said Sri Lanka had released 708 Indian fishermen while Pakistan freed 858 fishermen.

"In addition, the number of fishermen released in 2017 by Pakistan and Sri Lanka as of March 20 is 218 and 136 respectively," he said.

Most 10 Funniest Deaths In The History Of Mankind!

Deaths are tragic to anybody close to the person who has left this planet; we are supposed to mourn for the dead, but here are some ironic deaths which can’t help but leave you laughing about the way these people chose to leave this planet.

1.Thomas Urquhart

We all laughed when Donald Trump, a not so presidential guy, was elected, but not as much as this man. He was so astonished upon the accession of Charles II to the English throne that he died of laughter. Of course, no one would have laughed so hard upon hearing that Donald Trump is the most powerful man on earth right now.

2.Gareth Jones

The actors who get into their roles are the ones who win our hearts. But this guy went so deep into the character that instead of pretending to have a heart attack, he actually had a heart attack during a live television play, and the director did not stop the play and continued the play to its conclusion. The director must have loved his part.

3.Garry Hoy

A good advertisement is necessary for consumers to believe that the product is of top quality. This demonstrator wanted to prove that the glass on his window was unbreakable, and had proved it before to many people by hitting himself on the window on the 24th floor. But this time it was not meant to be. Although the window did not break, it popped out of the window frame and he fell to death.

4.Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov

We have heard stories about how people who are not dead have had a funeral arranged for them after they are falsely declared dead. She had supposedly died of a heart attack. But she woke up in her coffin, only to find people mourning for her. She was shocked and started screaming, resulting in an actual heart attack this time, which proved fatal and she died.

5.Edward Archbold

Who the hell participates in a cockroach eating contest? But this guy participated and won one. The joy was short-lived. He died soon after and the cause of death was found to be accidental choking due to cockroach body parts.

6.Geoffrey Haywood

All of us have encountered fake beggars who pretend to be handicapped or blind. This man, though, was punished by God maybe, as he fell into a pit while acting as a blind man. He died after the fall and possibly did not see the pit.

7.James Betts

Every daughter is afraid of her father finding out about she having a boyfriend. His girl decided to hide him inside a cupboard, accidentally sealing him inside, which resulted in his death due to asphyxia, i.e due to lack of oxygen.

8.Robert Williams

He has the tag of being the first man to be killed by a robot. On a simple working day, he was hit by the arm of a one-ton robot in his head, resulting in instant death. The AI revolution is coming guys, save yourselves.

9.Hans Steininger

Proud of having a 4.5 feet long beard, he wouldn’t have thought it would be the cause of his own death. He died after snapping his own neck as he tripped on his beard while running. I guess short beards are better than long ones.

10.Kenneth Pinyan

Fantasies are not just about women, folks. This guy was so excited about horses, he actually had sex with one of them. He developed a hole in his intestine which eventually lead to his death.
So, my friend, how would you like to die?

Google is the latest company to brush off most of the Wikileaks vulnerabilities

Wikileaks dumped thousands of alleged CIA documents online yesterday that contained lists of vulnerabilities in popular tech products, sending companies scrambling to make sure their security patches were up-to-date. But as companies reviewed the documents, it became clear that most of the vulnerabilities they contained were outdated.

Apple first dismissed the majority of the listed iPhone vulnerabilities in a statement last night, and now Google and other firms are following suit.

As we’ve reviewed the documents, we’re confident that security updates and protections in both Chrome and Android already shield users from many of these alleged vulnerabilities. Our analysis is ongoing and we will implement any further necessary protections. We’ve always made security a top priority and we continue to invest in our defenses,” Google’s director of information security and privacy Heather Adkins said in a statement.
Finding flaws in iPhones and Android devices was important to the CIA’s mission of surveilling targets because the security problems could allow the agency to eavesdrop on users’ communications.
It’s important to note that, although Google and Apple both say that most of the vulnerabilities are fixed, that doesn’t mean all of them are. Users concerned about the security of their devices need to make sure they’re updating to the latest software to get all of the security patches.
The Wikileaks disclosure has reignited a debate over whether U.S. intelligence agencies should disclose software vulnerabilities to companies so they can be fixed, or hoard them so they can be used for spying.
Mozilla’s chief legal and business officer Denelle Dixon highlighted the importance of disclosure in conversation with the New York Times. “The C.I.A. seems to be stockpiling vulnerabilities, and WikiLeaks seems to be using that trove for shock value rather than coordinating disclosure to the affected companies to give them a chance to fix it and protect users,” Dixon said. “Although today’s disclosures are jarring, we hope this raises awareness of the severity of these issues and the urgency of collaborating on reforms.”
Many tech industry advocates believe that the government has a responsibility to protect American businesses and consumers by notifying companies of security flaws, rather than keeping them secret and exploiting them. The Obama administration pushed a vulnerabilities equity process to help government agencies determine when to disclose vulnerabilities to companies, but the Wikileaks documents raise questions about whether the VEP is effective.
“The White House vulnerabilities equities process spells out what the government should be doing when it comes into possession of 0-days,” Alex Rice, chief technology officer of HackerOne, told TechCrunch. “It’s unclear if it’s been honored properly in this case. Were these vulnerabilities handled in the way outlined by the previous administration? And if not, what do we do about that? Was the process illegitimate to begin with? It’s restarting a conversation we thought we had a clear answer to.”
Rice, who worked on Facebook’s security team before helping launch the bug bounty platform HackerOne, said the vulnerabilities Wikileaks reported in Samsung smart TVs had a personal impact on him: Wikileaks claimed the CIA spied on targets through their TVs, and Rice has a Samsung TV facing his bed. “I’m not worried about the CIA eavesdropping on my television. If the CIA is going to conduct espionage on me, they have more than enough means to do so. What I am concerned about, if the U.S. government knows I have vulnerable tech in my bedroom, that has direct implications to my privacy. That’s something I should know about as a taxpayer,” Rice explained.
After all, if the CIA discovers a security vulnerability in a popular product, it’s only a matter of time before hackers or other nations’ spy agencies find it too. The CIA knew it had been breached late last year, according to a Reuters report, which calls into question why Apple, Google, Samsung and others weren’t alerted sooner.
“Eventually these vulnerabilities are not going to be secret any longer,” Rice said. “How are we going to minimize the damage when that happens? This leak is proof of that. We are all at a disadvantage if Wikileaks has access to a 0-day in iPhone, Android, or Samsung TV.”

McDonald's in trouble after pregnant woman allegedly finds dead lizard in her fries

Burger giant McDonald's has been accused of serving a deep-fried lizard in a plate of fries in an outlet in India, a top market for the Chicago-headquartered company.A resident of Kolkata, eastern India's biggest city, took her daughter on a food outing to the McDonald's outlet at EM Bypass. After her order was served, the sight of the dead reptile made the woman, who's reportedly pregnant, sick. She immediately called the store manager to look into it. However, his nonchalant response annoyed her. She took a picture of the affected food and filed a complaint against the burger joint at a nearby police station.

Mashable reached out to McDonald's India for comment.
“We are taking the situation seriously. Immediately upon being made aware of the complaint, we launched a thorough investigation in an effort to gather the facts of the matter... it is still on-going," said the official spokesperson of McDonald’s India (North & East) via email.
He added: "The officials from Food Safety Authority have also fully inspected our restaurant including the kitchen; and have given us the permission to reopen the restaurant. We are fully co-operating with the authorities involved."
McDonald's is no stranger to untoward incidents though.
In 2013, a Mumbai man had reportedly found a rusted metal screw in his fries. And two years later, in 2015, an Englishman met with a similar fate when he discovered a screw in his Coke.
People on social media are pissed, of course.

Gmail Users Can Now Receive Emails Up to 50MB in Size From Other Email Clients

Even though Gmail has maintained a size cap of 25MB on emails and attachments that can be received through its service for a long time, Google has announced that it is now expanding this limit to 50MB. However, the search giant has clarified that the size limit on mails that can be sent through its service will still remain at 25MB for users. This effectively means that Gmail users will now be able to receive larger sized emails from other clients that offer sending mails with size up to 50MB.
Considering that the attachments often ended up exceeding the earlier size limit, this can be seen as a welcome move by the company. Needless to point out but users who want to exchange larger files can always choose to use search giant's Drive service, which is already integrated with Gmail.
"Sending and receiving attachments is an important part of email exchanges. While Google Drive offers a convenient way to share files of any size, sometimes you need to receive large files as direct email attachments," Google said in its blog post
The company says that the change will come into effect for all users over the coming days. It would be interesting to see if the company increases the size cap on the emails that can be sent from its Gmail client going ahead or decides to retain it.
Google recently acknowledged that it received reports that some Gmail users were unexpectedly getting signed out of their accounts. Even though the search giant said that it was investigating the matter at hand, it importantly clarified that there was no indication that the issue was connected to phishing or account security threats.

Can you believe that? It's not that easy to believe this actually happened and if you have any double thoughts about this, there's enough proof as NASA's Landsat 7 satellite was there to capture the beauty. Google Play starts showing apps' actual download sizes
Google Play now displays the actual storage space a whole app or an upgrade will take up, so you don't accidentally download anything too big. If an update is only 2.91MB, it will show that exact figure right there in each app's detail box. That will give you the chance to reconsider your download or to free up some space before getting a particularly large game or VR experience.                   Besides displaying more accurate file sizes, Google also tweaked its Play Store algorithm to make updates even smaller. Most Android apps (98 percent of them) only download changes to their APK files when you update them, and those new files merge with the old ones. The updated algorithm will make those updates up to 50 percent smaller.   Finally, Google  improved compression algorithms will reduce big games' file sizes, which could be as huge as 2GB, by around 12 percent. Those with high-end phones might not get much out of these changes, but they could make a big difference for those who own more affordable devices with limited storage.

Here is why the Freedom 251 costs just Rs 251

The cliche that India is an extremely price conscious market seems to have been proved, yet again! With a smartphone selling at Rs 251 (nearly Rs 300 if you add in the Rs 40 shipping price included), an unknown phone company Ringing Bells has turned into the biggest news maker in the tech and business industry over the last couple of days, and how.
From specs offered at an unbelievably low price point and iPhone-like icons to being a re-branded Adcom Ikon 4 smartphone and Make in India project, a lot has already been said and written about the Freeedom 251. But what still seems baffling is how they will achieve the price point so low for a device that is well speced to be priced a little over a couple of thousands. You don’t even need to be a businessman to do the math.
Last night, Ashok Chadha, President, Ringing Bells took to answering media questions post the launch event and also explained how the company plans to achieve this low price point, and ‘still’ manage to sustain. Firstly, he cleared the air about subsidy by saying there is no government subsidy involved, but the company plans to benefit from economies of scale.

“The Indian market is at 2 crore units a month. If you take 30 percent of that, then you achieve economies of scale,” he had said. The Freedom 251 is priced around Rs 250, which means it could get them a cut of estimated Rs 500 on the Rs 2,500 bill of materials. However, selling Rs 2,500 device at Rs 251 would still incur losses in crores, and how does the company plan to tackle that. Somehow, it appears there’s more that needs to be explained.
It is believed that economies of scale coincides only with large businesses and that too only in relatively few products. For example, Boeing’s aircrafts, Microsoft’s OSes, and Intel’s CPU. However, even these global businesses are said to be dominant in only a few product lines.
“Economies of scale by itself is not enough for a business to keep a competitive advantage. If a business has only an economies of scale advantage, its competitors will be able to take some of its customers and will eventually be able to capture enough market share to remove its scale advantage. The business with the economies of scale advantage needs to be able to keep its larger market share,” points out a post on FallibleInvestor.
He has made some tall claims stating they want to capture nearly 30 percent of the smartphone market by the end of the year. The company apparently has two pilot plants in Noida and Uttarakhand, claiming a capacity of 5 lakh phones and they are looking at an investment of Rs 230-250 crores on these plants.
If some reports are to be believed then the Noida office was deserted and didn’t even have the Ringing Bells banner, instead it was named Bell. Another factor it claims is cutting down on distributors and relying only on the online medium.  “With Made in India components, we can save on the 13.8 percent,” Chadha claimed.  Also, selling online first could save the costs incurred on large distribution networks, he further claimed.
Well, we’ve seen companies like Motorola, Lenovo, YU and even Xiaomi take that route. Xiaomi sells phones starting at roughly Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 and relies on innovative marketing, is known to have made its investors worry lately.
The company also says that they will allow other companies to use their website as a selling platform. If you have visited the 251 Freedom site, I wouldn’t even have to get into details about how they could possibly manage it. Moreover, that’s a really tall claim for a company whose site crashed even before it started taking its first booking order for the Freedom 251.
Another pointer to think about is the company taking four months to deliver the products. Currently, they have 6 lakh visitors per second, and even if a few lakhs end up buying the device via online money, that’s a huge interest to earn in four months. Any reputed bank would give about 3 to 4 percent.

Moreover, the device says it’s a ‘Made in India’ project, but clearly there is no doubt now that it is the same Adcom Ikon 4 being sold on Flipkart at almost 16X times the price at Rs 4,081. Lastly, the device has not been BIS certified. In fact, it is not even listed, points out another report. So, how can we be so sure it is safe to use and adheres to the standards like radiation and so on, that are required for the Indian market. The Indian Cellular Association (ICA) is also known to have raised its concerns.
A cheap device that aims at creating a ‘Digital India’ is a novel plan, but there are still many creases to be ironed out.
